A new urban square

City of Lodi Competition

The area that is the subject of an ideas competition for the redevelopment of Piazza Matteotti and surrounding areas is an area with great potential within the urban fabric of Lodi. The Isola Carolina park, the castle bastions and the archaeological remains are elements of great value, which are currently fragmented and not connected in a single system. Furthermore, Piazza Matteotti and Piazza Castello are strategic connection points of the city.
The project proposal focuses on the themes of urban and cycle connection and aims to become a new cycle/pedestrian system for crossing Piazza Matteotti. The square is also configured through different scenarios: open-air cinema, market, and events in a space returned to the community.
